Job description
Position Overview
Join SRM Institute of Science and Technology, a leading Indian university renowned for its extensive academic programs in Engineering, Management, Science, and Humanities. The Lab Assistant role involves preparing and maintaining laboratory environments to facilitate smooth practical sessions aligning with the academic timetable.
Key Duties
- Ensure labs and equipment are arranged prior to scheduled practical classes.
- Manage equipment issuance and return, taking ownership of lab tools and components.
- Conduct routine cleaning, perform basic calibration, and undertake minor maintenance tasks on lab apparatus.
- Quickly notify the Lab Instructor or Head of Department about any equipment faults or damages.
- Keep precise records including stock registers and consumables inventory; initiate orders when stocks run low.
- Provide support to faculty members and lab instructors throughout practical sessions.
- Uphold safety standards by implementing lab safety measures such as personal protective equipment usage, proper waste disposal, and fire safety protocols.
- Maintain attendance records and equipment logs during sessions.
Eligibility
Candidates holding one of the following qualifications are eligible to apply:
- Bachelor’s degrees in fields such as Fashion Designing (B.A, B.Des.), Computer Applications (B.C.A.), various Engineering disciplines including Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation, and Business Systems, as well as Bio-Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, and Technology related to Computer Science.
- Diplomas in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics, and Instrumentation.
