About the Role
The Kitchen Stewarding Associate plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and storage areas. Responsibilities include operating and upkeeping cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines and pot-scrubbing stations, washing and disinfecting utensils, work surfaces, and equipment, as well as managing waste disposal and recycling processes. The role entails receiving deliveries, proper storage, and stock rotation of perishables to ensure food safety standards.
Key Duties
- Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment including dishwashers, hand wash stations, and trash compactors.
- Wash, sanitize, and disinfect kitchen and storage rooms, tools, knives, and tables effectively.
- Implement proper cleaning procedures using detergents and sanitizing chemicals in a 3-compartment sink setup.
- Inspect and organize cleaned items, resending those that require additional washing.
- Manage cleaning of silverware by sorting, soaking, washing, and re-washing as needed.
- Handle waste management by emptying trashcans, maintaining dumpster areas, and separating recyclables appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, and disposing of refuse correctly including glass and cardboard.
- Follow all safety and security protocols, reporting hazards or incidents to management promptly.
- Support teamwork and positive communication to meet team goals efficiently.
- Physically capable of moving objects up to 50 pounds and performing tasks that involve prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, and stooping.
- Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications
No formal education or previous work experience is required. This entry-level position welcomes candidates without supervisory experience or certifications.
