Job description

Role Overview

Kanhai Foods Limited seeks a proactive Junior Plant Manager based in Ahmedabad to oversee daily operations within the production plant, including production, packing, and maintenance sectors. This full-time position involves rotational day and night shifts and requires hands-on management, leadership across teams, and effective coordination with vendors and contractors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day plant activities to achieve production output and quality goals.
  • Lead internal departments such as production, quality control, maintenance, and housekeeping, alongside external contractors, ensuring seamless operational continuity across shifts.
  • Plan and schedule production effectively to fulfill demand while optimizing workforce, equipment usage, and material consumption.
  • Maintain active vendor and supplier relationships, handling coordination, follow-up, deliveries, and commercial matters on the shop floor.
  • Monitor machine functionality, promptly detecting malfunctions and organizing repairs and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Oversee packing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and efficient material usage.
  • Enforce hygiene, safety, and food safety regulations consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Collect and report production metrics, downtime events, and operational challenges to the Plant Manager.
  • Allocate manpower strategically, manage shift coverage, and supervise team performance to prevent process bottlenecks.
  • Support audit preparedness, ensuring compliance with operational and hygiene standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience ranging from three to five years in plant or production operations, preferably in supervisory or junior managerial capacities.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work both day and night shifts.
  • Strong leadership qualities to effectively manage multiple teams and foster accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability in coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Comprehensive understanding of machine operations and plant floor processes.
  • Multiskilled in mechanical repairs, production scheduling, and packing operations.
  • Experience managing vendor and supplier relationships.

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • ITI qualification coupled with relevant plant experience is also acceptable.
  • Additional training or certification in Production or Operations Management is advantageous.

Preferred Attributes

  • Prior work experience in FMCG or food production environments.
  • Familiarity with audit procedures, GMP standards, and food safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage sizable teams and oversee multiple operational functions concurrently.
