Junior Oil Broker

Role Overview

We offer an opportunity for an entry-level Oil Broker with some proven experience in a broking environment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, personable, and have a keen interest in financial markets. You will be proactive in generating business leads, building networks, and securing new clients. The role requires a highly organised individual with strong analytical abilities who thrives in a fast-paced setting and works effectively within a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the company by providing clients with market intelligence and analytical insights.
• Conduct voice broking to arrange trades on behalf of clients for execution at the appropriate exchanges.
• Execute trades strictly on a non-advisory, execution-only basis.
• Reconcile and input trades into Trade Manager or relevant exchanges as required.
• Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships through regular communication and monitoring daily trade activity.
• Obtain industry feedback through calls, surveys, trade events, exhibitions, and conferences.
• Compile daily and weekly market price updates and analyses for international teams.
• Manage client onboarding following compliance and operational protocols.
• Identify internal cross-selling opportunities by assessing client needs and financial status.
• Understand the desk’s strategy and capitalize on new business prospects arising from market trends, products, or clients.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

• Stay informed on applicable regulations within the changing regulatory landscape.
• Promote a risk-aware culture and adhere to company policies.
• Exercise sound judgment, integrity, care, and diligence, cooperating fully with regulators and exchange bodies.
• Comply with all internal policies relevant to this role or other activities.
• Maintain standards of market conduct and ensure compliance with regulatory, exchange, or clearinghouse obligations.

Training and Development

• Regularly seek feedback from the Desk Head to meet role expectations.
• Complete mandatory company training within set deadlines.
• Maintain ongoing professional development.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in execution brokerage for related products involving commercial clients, either in financial or physical markets (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge in price risk management.
• Excellent quantitative analysis, presentation, and decision-making skills.
• Self-driven with an entrepreneurial attitude.
• Client-focused, personable, and skilled in relationship-building and networking.
• Effective communication skills with clients and teammates.
• Ability to thrive under pressure with persistence and tenacity.
• Team player capable of working with diverse groups and personalities.
• Rigorous attention to detail, strong analytical and numerical proficiency.
• Proficient with IT systems, especially Excel.
• A degree in Economics or a related field is preferred.
