The Fulfilment Centre Operations at THE ICONIC comprises four specialized departments: Inventory, Outbound, Inbound, and Marketplace. Operating 24/7, the centre utilizes advanced technology including active pick towers, Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS), and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) to ensure swift and accurate product delivery.
Role Overview
The Junior Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in maintaining the automated material handling equipment, including conveyors, robots, sorters, and packing machinery. The position involves performing preventive maintenance, responding promptly to faults and breakdowns, and collaborating closely with teams such as Operations, Warehouse, Automation Engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
Work Schedule
This position operates on a rotating roster alternating between day shifts and other shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on automated conveyors, robotic equipment, sorters, and packaging machinery.
- Diagnose, contain, and repair equipment abnormalities and breakdowns within authorized limits.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation system issues effectively.
- Support repairs involving PLC/HMI systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical parts.
- Escalate complex issues to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), integration partners, or internal teams according to protocols.
- Maintain precise work orders, logs, and documentation through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Strive to uphold equipment availability and achieve performance goals, including uptime, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Manage essential spare parts, tools, and repair kits to enable swift maintenance responses.
- Partner with Automation Engineers to analyze root causes and implement enhancements for reliability.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations and Warehouse teams to minimize disruptions to fulfilment processes.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery when required.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Recommend and enact practical improvements spanning equipment, procedures, and maintenance approaches.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Robust mechanical aptitude combined with practical problem-solving capabilities.
- Positive, proactive attitude with eagerness to grow and learn.
- Strong dedication to workplace health and safety standards.
- Preferably familiar with safe isolation practices.
- Trade qualification, technical certification, apprenticeship progress, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance fields preferred.
- Previous exposure to industrial maintenance, automated material handling equipment, manufacturing, or warehouse machinery advantageous.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics is preferred.
- Understanding of safe working practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and permit-to-work systems.
- Experience with CMMS software such as SAP PM, Maximo, UpKeep, or Llumin is desirable.
- Basic competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and operational groups.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapting to shifting priorities.
