Joinery Cost Estimator

About the Role

Black & Grey HR is collaborating with a renowned construction and infrastructure firm in the UAE to recruit a Joinery Cost Estimator. This role focuses on managing all cost estimation efforts during the pre-contract phase of projects, aiming to prepare precise, competitive, and profitable bids that secure new business contracts. The estimator will review project documentation, conduct site visits, and coordinate closely with internal personnel and suppliers to deliver dependable cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Take full accountability for all estimating activities related to joinery and fit-out projects during the tender and bidding stages.
• Thoroughly analyze drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents to grasp the full project scope.
• Visit project sites to collect essential on-ground data that influences cost and feasibility assessments.
• Calculate labor, material, equipment, and time requirements using technical plans and documents.
• Prepare detailed and precise bills of quantities with explicit specifications for every project.
• Develop comprehensive, itemized cost breakdowns including materials, labor, subcontractor fees, and overhead expenses.
• Interpret technical specifications correctly to generate competitive tender pricing.
• Collaborate closely with production and workshop teams to ensure estimates are practical and aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
• Engage suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and confirm material and service availability.
• Assess both technical and commercial project document terms, providing clarifications or feedback where needed.
• Identify and resolve any discrepancies or missing information in tender documents prior to finalizing bids.
• Compile complete bid packages including all necessary documentation and cost information for submission.
• Maintain and regularly update historical cost data to assist future estimation accuracy.
• Upon project award, review contract terms to facilitate a seamless handover to the execution team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of pertinent experience in cost estimation, focusing on joinery, fit-out, or interior contracting sectors.
• Demonstrated expertise in pre-contract estimation activities such as tendering, bidding, bill of quantities preparation, and pricing prior to project award.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production workflows.
• Experience in senior or supervisory roles within large organizations or corporate environments.
