We support everything from individual medical record access to powering AI innovation in healthcare. Joining Datavant means becoming part of a passionate, collaborative team driving transformative change in the sector.
Role Overview
Datavant is the leading health data platform globally, connecting healthcare stakeholders through secure and compliant data exchange. We envision a future where every healthcare decision is fueled by the right data at the precise time and appropriate format. To support our growth, we focus on enterprise execution to translate strategy into delivery and accelerate outcomes.
Position Purpose
As Datavant expands, Jira must evolve into a governed enterprise platform that balances flexibility for teams with common standards and controls. This role supports scalable configurations, governance improvements, problem resolution, and partnerships to convert business needs into long-term solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operational health and daily administration of Jira and related Atlassian tools.
- Design and optimize advanced workflows, schemes, permissions, screens, notifications, dashboards, and automation within Jira.
- Convert business and technical needs into scalable and maintainable Jira solutions aligned with company standards.
- Develop and maintain reusable project templates, naming conventions, and governance frameworks.
- Administer Jira Service Management features including request types, queues, workflows, portals, SLAs, and knowledge base integrations.
- Identify and resolve complex issues related to configuration, automation, performance, integrations, and user access.
- Support incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for the platform.
- Create and maintain integrations via Jira APIs, webhooks, automation, and approved scripting tools.
- Oversee identity and access management including role-based access, single sign-on, user provisioning, and permission reviews.
- Evaluate Atlassian Marketplace apps for suitability, security, maintainability, cost-effectiveness, and overlap.
- Assist in configuration cleanup, project consolidation, migration, and standardization efforts.
- Keep detailed technical documentation, configuration logs, runbooks, and administrative procedures current.
- Mentor junior Jira administrators and review their configuration changes and designs.
- Collaborate with teams across security, compliance, engineering, IT, and business units in Ireland, the US, and other regions.
Candidate Profile
- Three to five years of direct Jira administration experience within a complex or enterprise environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Jira configuration elements including workflows, fields, permissions, automation, JQL, dashboards, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and familiarity with Confluence or related Atlassian products.
- Experience managing shared configurations with a balance between standardization and business flexibility.
- Skilled in designing integrations with REST APIs, webhooks, automation tools, middleware, or scripting.
- Understanding enterprise identity and access management concepts such as SSO, SAML, SCIM, directory groups, and RBAC.
- Experience with governance, change control, incident management, testing processes, and technical documentation.
- Ability to diagnose intricate problems spanning configuration, integration, application, permissions, and user experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management with clear communication of technical options, risks, and trade-offs.
- Capability to challenge overly complex requests and promote simpler, maintainable alternatives.
- Proven collaboration with distributed teams internationally.
- Exposure to healthcare, data security, or regulated environments is advantageous.
- Relevant Atlassian certification is desirable.
Success Indicators Within 12 Months
- Well-defined operational ownership and strict controls over Jira with disciplined production changes.
- Reduction in platform incidents, recurring issues, and avoidable configuration faults.
- Efficient and consistent support with a transparent intake and prioritization process for complex requests.
- Reduced configuration bloat through reusable standards and templates without hindering team workflows.
- Organized, reviewed, and auditable system of permissions, access controls, and admin privileges.
- Automations that reduce repetitive work and enhance Jira data consistency.
- Visible metrics on platform health, service performance, adoption, and technical debt.
- Maintained prioritized improvement backlog and platform roadmap agreed upon with key stakeholders.
- Increased responsibilities taken on by junior admins supported by proper guidance, documentation, and coaching.
- The Jira administration team recognized as a strategic partner by business and technical leadership.
