Java Technical Architect - Fullstack Developer (Onsite, Cork, Ireland)

About the Company and Role

QT Technologies Ireland Limited, part of Qualcomm, is seeking a seasoned full-stack technical architect with extensive experience in intellectual property (IP) space. The role involves architecting, designing, developing, and supporting customized IP analytical applications for managing one of the largest patent portfolios worldwide. The goal is to deliver faster and highly efficient data solutions that adapt to the changing needs of legal teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user-friendly tools that assist attorneys and engineers in assessing the value and managing patent data effectively.
• Create analytics applications enabling IP engineers to analyze patent portfolios based on various criteria such as technology and financial metrics.
• Develop custom web applications using modern interfaces and frameworks to optimize data delivery in alignment with evolving legal strategies.
• Create integration tools linking internal invention and patent management platforms with global patent offices.
• Automate internal processes and systems within the Legal team to enhance operational efficiency.
• Streamline business workflows through automation.
• Deploy and maintain applications on cloud platforms (AWS) with continuous integration/delivery pipelines using tools like Jenkins to ensure 100% uptime.
• Mentor team members, enforcing best development practices through regular code reviews and compliance checks.
• Identify and propose workflow and process improvements for operational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, analysts, project managers, and team members on both functional and technical matters.
• Apply Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies during software development.
• Leverage cloud technologies and microservices architecture in application design and deployment.
• Analyze requirements, perform system design, conduct code reviews, manage deployments, and perform unit testing.
• Follow software development best practices including design patterns and architectural guidelines.
• Work effectively within Agile/Scrum frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in software development within reputable organizations.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8 or above, Python, Groovy, Spring Framework, and Hibernate ORM.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Comprehensive full-stack development expertise, including building user interfaces with technologies such as Angular or React JS alongside other web technologies.
• Proven experience developing cloud-native applications, especially on AWS.
• Skilled in data modeling and database design using relational (Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Experience in developing solutions with search technologies like Apache Solr or Elasticsearch.
