Java Full Stack Engineer

Overview

We seek a Java Full Stack Engineer based in Singapore to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise-grade applications within a strictly regulated sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong backend Java capabilities, working familiarity with React, practical experience in deployment, and the skills to troubleshoot production environments and engage in client technical discussions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and upkeep backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Develop, optimize, and debug database queries and system integrations to ensure high application performance.
• Maintain and improve React frontend components, ensuring smooth integration with backend APIs.
• Manage application deployment and troubleshooting leveraging GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers, and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Configure and troubleshoot API gateways and reverse proxy systems.
• Investigate and resolve production issues by analyzing system logs, diagnosing root causes, and applying effective solutions.
• Address application and dependency security vulnerabilities by implementing and validating fixes.
• Contribute to and occasionally lead technical meetings with clients to clarify requirements, address issues, and suggest improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• Advanced hands-on proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST API creation.
• Strong skills in database management and SQL query construction and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of React and frontend-backend integration practices.
• Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker containers, and Kubernetes cluster management.
• Familiarity with API gateway and reverse proxy technologies like Nginx.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve production issues via log analysis and debugging.
• Experience in remediating application and third-party dependency vulnerabilities.
• Effective English communication skills for technical dialogue with clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Axway API Gateway or similar enterprise API management solutions.
• Background in supporting Singapore government, public-sector, or similarly regulated projects.
• Knowledge of Government Commercial Cloud (GCC), Government Data Centre (GDC), or OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) is advantageous.
