Java Backend Developer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer proficient in Java, with practical expertise in Redis and PostgreSQL. This position demands advanced skills in system design and architecture to develop scalable, secure, resilient, and production-worthy backend applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and sustain reliable, scalable, and high-performing backend services using Java.
• Participate actively in system architecture and design for large-scale production-level applications.
• Devise and implement solutions capable of scaling with increased traffic, workload, and data growth.
• Develop and refine caching and efficient data access methods leveraging Redis.
• Design, optimize, and maintain relational databases utilizing PostgreSQL efficiently.
• Analyze real-time production environments, locate performance bottlenecks, and apply dependable technical resolutions.
• Enhance application uptime, availability, fault tolerance, and overall readiness for production.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to supervise the entire system lifecycle.
• Detect and mitigate security vulnerabilities in applications and systems.
• Support troubleshooting efforts, tune performance, resolve incidents, and foster continual system enhancements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Proven backend development experience with Java and frameworks like Spring and Spring Boot.
• Strong grasp of system design, software architecture, and distributed applications on a large scale.
• Hands-on experience with Redis, focusing on caching methods, data structures, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL encompassing database schema design, query optimization, indexing, and tuning.
• In-depth understanding of scalability, high availability, reliability, concurrency, and performance in production systems.
• Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software.
• Familiarity with infrastructure setups, deployment configurations, and interactions between applications and environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of application security best practices, secure coding standards, and addressing typical threats.
• Strong analytical skills for scenario-based problem solving, troubleshooting, and making informed technical decisions.

Preferred Competencies

• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems architecture.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, container technologies like Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, logging methods, observability practices, and production incident handling.
• Understanding of API security, including authentication, authorization, and performance optimization.
• Experience mentoring junior developers or contributing to technical standards and architectural guidelines.
