Job description
Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Performance Test Engineer to ensure the scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of a high-volume track-and-trace platform. This platform includes critical processes such as serialization, commissioning, aggregation, and regulatory integration. The engineer will collaborate closely with QA, development, infrastructure, database, architecture, and business teams to mitigate performance risks and validate that the system can manage both usual and peak transaction loads effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and regularly update the performance testing strategy, test planning, workload models, scripting, and acceptance benchmarks.
- Collect and confirm non-functional specifications including daily/monthly volumes, peak periods, transactions per second, concurrent users, API throughput, response time thresholds, batch and file processing guidelines, and database growth forecasts.
- Create realistic workload simulations that represent normal, peak, seasonal, and exceptional business scenarios.
- Conduct diverse performance tests including load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, capacity, volume, and failover analyses.
- Validate critical track-and-trace workflows such as serial number commissioning, packaging, shipping, importing/exporting event processing, decommissioning, EPCIS event handling, and integration with regulatory and external systems.
- Monitor key metrics: transactions per second/hour, API response times, event-processing delays, message queue status, error rates, system resource usage (CPU, memory, disk, network), database query efficiencies, and server/integration-layer performance.
- Diagnose bottlenecks across application, database, middleware, API gateways, message queues, networking, and infrastructure components and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues and confirm improvements.
- Establish baseline performance benchmarks and perform comparative analyses across software releases.
- Generate detailed reports and dashboards highlighting performance findings, bottlenecks, risks, and recommendations.
- Assist production capacity planning and provide insights on required infrastructure sizing.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD workflows when applicable.
- Maintain reusable testing scripts, data sets, monitoring configurations, and documentation related to performance testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Between 4 and 6 years of hands-on experience in performance and non-functional testing.
- Proficient with popular performance testing tools, including Apache JMeter, K6, LoadRunner, and cloud-based tools such as Azure Load Testing.
- Strong experience testing REST APIs, web applications, middleware components, message queues, and batch-processing systems.
- Experience using API testing tools like Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, or Splunk.
- Good working knowledge of SQL, database performance analysis, query optimization, and large-scale data testing.
