Janitor/Cleaner

About the Role

Join Magna International's dynamic team located in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, as a Janitor/Cleaner. As part of the Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group, you will support cleanliness and safety while working in a department that pioneers future mobility solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow company policies regarding punctuality and attendance.
• Carry out general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain plant cleanliness.
• Use equipment including power floor scrubbers and other tools to keep the facility in excellent condition.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including all fixtures, and ensure refill of supplies where necessary.
• Dispose of waste by emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning agents.
• Store all cleaning supplies and equipment safely and ensure they are adequately stocked.
• Participate actively in the 5S program by maintaining cleanliness, floor markings, labeling, communication boards, red tag bins, and engaging in audits and improvement events.
• Comply strictly with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards and all workplace health and safety regulations, including participation in Environmental Health and Safety training.
• Report any workplace hazards, incidents, or compliance issues promptly to supervisors.
• Adhere to policies preventing workplace violence, harassment, and domestic violence in accordance with Bill 168 legislation.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements and all related safety policies and standards.
• Maintain awareness and proactive role in plant safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
• Attend required safety training sessions and commit to safe work practices at all times.

Qualifications & Competencies

• No formal education is required, although a Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Applicants should have a minimum of one year of work-related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with results orientation.
• Must be adaptable, self-motivated, decisive, approachable, diplomatic, and able to follow instructions reliably.

Working Conditions

You will encounter working environments where minor physical discomfort or stress due to exposure to internal or external elements is expected. There is a low risk of injury, but diligence in safety protocols is essential.
