Janitor Lead

Position Overview

The Janitor Lead manages the daily cleaning responsibilities of the janitorial team assigned to various facilities such as offices, commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with team members, clients, and organization management to ensure cleanliness and organization of assigned areas.

Work Schedule and Compensation

The position offers an hourly wage ranging from C$25 to C$28. Work hours are typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, and a comprehensive leave program according to their employment status.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise special cleaning projects and daily janitorial tasks.
• Oversee stocking and inventory management of supply closets.
• Train and support new cleaning staff on procedures and chemical use.
• Perform cleaning duties such as vacuuming, edging, dusting, restroom and breakroom cleaning and restocking, window cleaning, trash removal, sweeping, and mopping floors.
• Assist the Cleaning Manager with daily operational activities and complete punch-list items.
• Ensure the use of proper personal protective equipment and maintain professional appearance and conduct.
• Fill in during staff shortages as needed.

• Maintain a strong commitment to excellent guest experience and customer satisfaction.
• Build respectful relationships with teammates, managers, and clients.
• Take directions from supervisors and coordinate with other departments.
• Participate actively in team meetings and communicate professionally with all stakeholders.
• Understand and utilize company reporting systems efficiently.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in commercial janitorial roles.
• Strong awareness and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment focused on quality.
• Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Ability to stand for extended periods and walk for more than two-thirds of the work time.
• Use hands and fingers to handle, grip, and feel objects, with frequent pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling motions.
• Frequently lift weights ranging from 0-25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Perform repetitive tasks while working under time deadlines and pressure during busy periods.
