Opportunity Overview

As the ITS Operations Manager reporting to the Wellington ITS Regional Manager, you will be accountable for overseeing operational performance, resource allocation, financial outcomes, and team leadership while actively promoting Downer's Zero Harm safety culture.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, electricians, apprentices, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate business growth, nurture strong working relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with high quality. This is a key leadership role influencing both the strategic direction and daily operations of the Wellington ITS business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and execution of ITS projects and contracts within the Wellington region
• Assist in developing and implementing regional business plans and operational strategies
• Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
• Ensure workforce planning aligns with project and contract requirements
• Manage profitability, cash flow, productivity, and commercial performance
• Establish and maintain trusted relationships with clients, suppliers, consultants, and other important stakeholders
• Act as a visible leader promoting Downer's Zero Harm safety culture and demonstrate personal commitment to safety

Required Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent in electrical, engineering, technology, or a related discipline
• Proven track record delivering projects in infrastructure, electrical, transport technology, construction, or similar sectors
• Successful leadership experience in operational teams and complex project settings
• Outstanding leadership capabilities with strong dedication to safety and developing people
• Robust commercial understanding including budgeting, forecasting, and performance management
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and cultivating strong client partnerships
• Ability to influence, inspire, and unify teams to achieve common goals
