Job description
Role Overview
This position is tasked with overseeing Telecel Ghana's Data Network Infrastructure, ensuring connectivity through the Wide Area Network (WAN) to remote offices, as well as managing the Local Area Networks (LANs) within those sites and the Data Centre connections.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver expert technical guidance and governance for WAN, LAN, and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) environments to consistently satisfy Telecel’s day-to-day IT Data Network needs.
- Advise on defining requirements, designing, developing, and integrating networks and systems for complex projects, ensuring network services comply with project specifications.
- Prepare business justification cases and undertake cost-benefit analyses to support IT expenditures and network initiatives.
- Lead project deployments by reviewing and documenting architectural designs for complex technical landscapes in collaboration with the head of IT Strategy.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, upgrades, and support of all IT Data Network components including routers, switches, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate standards, principles, and directions for Data Network environments that align with organizational and user requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a comparable discipline is preferred.
- At least five years’ experience working in Data Networks, with a minimum of three years in a technical management role.
- Minimum three years of hands-on experience with Network Security tools and technologies.
- Between three to five years’ practical experience in VPN technologies.
- Three to five years of expertise with routing, switching, and bridging technologies.
- Three to five years’ familiarity with Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART).
- Proven excellence in configuring and managing IP connectivity devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and Wi-Fi systems.
- Strong operational understanding and working knowledge of IP-MPLS technology.
- Awareness of operating within a global enterprise setting and the ability to utilize this framework for local operational success.
- Demonstrated adaptability and competence in navigating fast-evolving organizational and cultural environments.
