IT Applications Senior Engineer

Purpose of the Role

This position is designed for experienced IT professionals who can work with general guidance to develop and deliver solutions for complex challenges. They handle sophisticated operational tasks such as application development oversight and comprehensive system and integration testing. The role also involves resolving escalated application issues and planning permanent solutions to reduce ongoing problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to stay updated on emerging architecture and application development trends, establish policies and strategies for system component selection, and promote consistent architecture discipline.
• Work closely with Enterprise Architecture to review IT initiatives, maintain stable architecture, and design coherent applications across multiple projects within large-scale business transformations.
• Analyze and gather business requirements, utilize appropriate tools like logical component and interface models, and create detailed specifications translating them into system architectures and designs for implementation.
• Balance functional needs, service quality, and system management demands by adhering to solution standards and providing technical recommendations concerning system development and integration aspects including change requests and specification deviations.
• Coordinate with project teams to understand project needs, evaluate user requirements, and determine system requirements including timelines and resources.
• Assess system changes for resource impact, infrastructure needs, and costs; facilitate development of detailed technical specifications and designs accordingly.
• Support the creation of business application specifications ensuring design comprehensiveness and detailed coding guidelines.
• Engage in preparing inputs for testing, scheduling and executing system and integration tests, ensuring user requirements are effectively met.
• Handle escalated systems and application issues by identifying root causes, troubleshooting, resolving simple problems during implementations, and developing plans to permanently reduce chronic issues.
• Monitor daily application processes by analyzing performance data, logs, and applying system patches and upgrades to maintain smooth operations.
• Document applications and system knowledge, transfer expertise to vendors and knowledge management repositories, and ensure all teams remain informed.

Education and Experience

• Possess a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• Have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in IT applications or system development roles.
