Job Overview
We seek a meticulous and accountable Inventory Accountant to oversee all inventory accounting activities, including maintaining stock records, processing purchase and sales entries, reconciliation tasks, and other routine accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately maintain records of inventory, procurement, sales, stock movements, and adjustments.
- Verify and record purchase invoices, sales invoices, credit and debit notes, and other related accounting documents.
- Conduct reconciliation between physical stock and system/book records, investigating any inconsistencies.
- Track inventory flow among warehouses, branches, and various locations.
- Manage monitoring of stock receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and damages.
- Regularly perform stock reconciliations and evaluate inventory valuation.
- Validate purchase orders, Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs), invoices, and associated documentation.
- Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure precise inventory records.
- Identify and report on stock shortages, surpluses, negative stock occurrences, and anomalous inventory activities.
- Keep adequate documentation and records to support audit processes.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing related to inventory and accounts.
- Reconcile vendor accounts and address discrepancies concerning invoices or payments as needed.
- Generate regular reports detailing stock levels, inventory worth, procurement, sales, and any discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to company accounting standards as well as GST and taxation compliance.
- Support internal and statutory audits by supplying necessary inventory and accounting documentation.
- Guarantee timely and accurate data input into accounting or ERP systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in inventory accounting, accounts, or stock management.
- Sound understanding of inventory accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
- Working knowledge of GST, purchase/sales accounting, and fundamental taxation norms.
- Proficient with MS Excel features such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, and basic data analysis techniques.
- Experience with Tally, ERP, or other accounting and inventory management software.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Capable of identifying discrepancies and effectively resolving them.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Industry Experience
Familiarity with the marble, granite, tiles, building materials, manufacturing, trading, or warehouse sectors is advantageous.
