Our core payments platform is fundamental to our operations. Additionally, we're developing our flagship application, Payap, that integrates our most powerful functionalities.

Responsibilities

• Implement rigorous chaos engineering and load testing to evaluate system behavior during intense traffic surges or component failures, especially during critical times like public holidays or unexpected outages.
• Deploy AI-driven tooling across engineering workflows to enhance daily processes like shipping, reviewing, and debugging code, not simply integrating chatbot interfaces.
• Design and maintain effective disaster recovery solutions, including full regional failover capabilities, ensuring uninterrupted transaction processing during significant cloud outages.

• Ownership mentality: engineers are responsible for building, operating, and owning features end-to-end, including fixing issues independently without reliance on other groups.
• Learning through innovation: team members tackle open-ended business challenges, conducting market research, experimentation, and solution exploration without strict task breakdowns.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience delivering code to production, with a track record of learning from mistakes and striving for reliable systems.
• Effective written communication skills, aligning with our async-first work style.
• Comfortable navigating uncertainty by engaging directly with users to define development priorities.

Additional Information

• No current expertise with AWS? We prioritize problem-solving skills over specific cloud experience. Familiarity with other cloud platforms like GCP or Azure makes transitioning to AWS feasible with support.
• Location flexibility: though the role is onsite in Auckland, remote work options are available for the right candidate.

Interview Process

• Initial one-hour video conversation to introduce you to the company and role.
• Take-home assignment requiring 2-4 hours on your schedule.
• Code review session via video call to discuss your solutions and design rationale.
• Final 30-minute video chat with the CEO and CTO.
