Position Overview
There are three 12-month fixed-term openings for Intelligence Analysts on a regional basis. Preferred locations are Hamilton, Napier, or Christchurch, but applicants based at any WorkSafe site will be considered. Inter-agency secondments are welcomed, with prior discussion with your current manager advised.

Team and Role
The newly formed Enterprise Planning and Implementation group aims to improve organization-wide planning, prioritization, and execution. Within this structure, the Regulatory Intelligence team provides instrumental support by converting a wide range of data and insights into intelligence products to guide targeted regulatory efforts.
In this Intelligence Analyst - Regional role, you will analyze diverse operational data to detect regional risks and emerging trends, crafting clear intelligence products for frontline inspectors and leaders to help them focus efforts with maximum impact. Collaboration with inspectors and regulatory staff is vital to ensure activities remain evidence-based and responsive to evolving challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis of operational data to pinpoint regional risks and trends.
- Create intelligence deliverables that aid regulatory targeting and priority-setting.
- Effectively translate complex information into actionable intelligence.
- Foster strong partnerships with inspectors and stakeholders to grasp emerging regulatory issues.
- Provide prompt intelligence support throughout regional regulatory efforts.
- Generate operational reports and dashboards to support strategic decisions.
- Identify and escalate critical issues requiring broader organizational attention.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven experience working with quantitative and qualitative data to produce meaningful insights.
- Strong critical thinking abilities, capable of handling incomplete or ambiguous data.
- Skilled in preparing clear, well-structured reports or intelligence documents.
- Able to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholder needs effectively.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience in regulatory, intelligence, or public sector environments is advantageous.
- Relevant qualifications, or progress towards them, in intelligence analysis or related analytical fields are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The remuneration range for this role is NZD 83,137 to 108,442, exclusive of KiwiSaver and SSRSS employer contributions. From April 1, 2026, employer KiwiSaver contributions will increase to 3.5%.
