Role Overview

The Visual Dimension Inspection (VDI) Inspector undertakes comprehensive inspections of casing pipes conforming to specified standards, protocols, and client requirements. This involves detailed visual examination of the pipes' external surfaces, validation of traceability marks, and thorough documentation of inspection findings. The inspector communicates any discrepancies to the QC Shift Supervisor and partners with Screw-On Operators to facilitate process enhancements and quality assurance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect casing pipes adhering strictly to relevant standards, procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Perform visual assessments focused on the external surfaces of pipes following defined technical foundation criteria.
  • Authenticate traceability markings to assure correct product identification and compliance.
  • Accurately complete and update all necessary inspection documentation, including reports, registers, and logs.
  • Report any inspection irregularities, process deviations, or repeated nonconformities to the QC Shift Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with Screw-On Operators by providing constructive feedback to aid in process modification and quality improvement.
  • Efficiently carry out assigned tasks under supervision, ensuring adherence to company protocols.
  • Maintain and manage relevant procedural documents, work instructions, and controlled documentation as required.
  • Actively contribute as a team member towards achieving the company's quality, business, and strategic targets.
  • Support ongoing improvement efforts designed to satisfy customer demands, comply with legal requirements, and meet organizational goals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate from Technical School, Technical College, Industrial High School, or Secondary School.
  • Between 1 to 3 years of experience in pipe inspection or related manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with thread inspection methods, various thread types, and associated inspection standards.
  • Knowledge of API and ASTM/ASME standards applicable to pipe inspections.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team setting.

Skills and Competencies

  • Capability to establish productive work practices and deliver quality-focused feedback.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computers and familiarity with common corporate software tools.
  • Good problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Preferably experienced with inspection systems and quality documentation software.
