Job description

Role Overview

The NDT Inspector is responsible for executing Non-Destructive Testing processes on materials, systematically documenting and archiving test outcomes and parameters, and ensuring traceable identification of inspected pipes via the L2 database and manual logs. The role includes calibrating and validating NDT equipment, mentoring junior NDT staff and Level II inspectors on the job, conducting routine maintenance of all NDT apparatus, participating in certification cycles, and performing troubleshooting and repair tasks to maintain optimal equipment operation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct NDT testing on materials aligned with established procedures, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Accurately record, manage, and archive inspection documentation and test results while maintaining traceability through L2 databases and manual records.
  • Safeguard calibration pipes in controlled storage; report any damage or depletion to the NDT Supervisor.
  • Carry out calibration and equipment validation of NDT machinery.
  • Deliver on-the-job training and support to entry-level NDT staff and Level II inspectors.
  • Perform daily housekeeping, inspections, and routine maintenance on NDT equipment.
  • Engage in required certification and recertification training and exams for relevant NDT techniques.
  • Handle operational maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on NDT systems.
  • Execute assigned work efficiently following quality guidelines and supervisory direction.
  • Maintain relevant procedures, work instructions, and controlled documents pertinent to the role.
  • Work collaboratively to contribute to the company’s quality targets, strategic goals, and business objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to satisfy customer, legal, and organizational demands.
  • Participate actively in internal and external audits, ensuring effective resolution of findings.
  • Identify workplace hazards, implement safety measures, and promote enhanced health, safety, and environment (HSE) results.
  • Comply fully with HSE and IMS legal requirements and promptly report incidents, aiding in corrective measures.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Possess a Technical Diploma or Industrial High School Diploma.
  • Have at least three years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent background.
  • Hold NDT Level II certification for Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or both.
  • Experience preferred with Dr. Forester MFL machines and Tuboscope automated UT units.
  • Demonstrate strong familiarity with NDT equipment setup, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Possess foundational understanding of comprehensive pipe inspection workflows.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient understanding and application of various NDT methods and procedures.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office software tools.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal interaction capabilities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving aptitude.
