Industrial Millwright

Position Overview

We are seeking a Licensed Industrial Millwright to join our team at Hilton Foods in Brantford, Ontario. This role is focused on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and industrial equipment within a sophisticated, automated food production facility. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of production, equipment safety, and efficient operation of food processing and packaging lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to plan work procedures and identify parts needed for tasks.
• Install, align, dismantle, and fix machinery including pumps, conveyors, mixers, grinders, and slicers.
• Conduct inspections and tests to detect equipment malfunctions and optimize production yield.
• Utilize specialized tools such as welders, hydraulic bolters, and cutting instruments according to job specifications.
• Assist in diagnosing mechanical control system issues in collaboration with electricians and automation technicians.
• Apply predictive maintenance methods like vibration analysis and precise measurements to preempt equipment failures.
• Adhere to safety standards regarding workplace, food safety, and environmental regulations rigorously.
• Complete and update maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation meticulously in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Safely handle hoisting and lifting equipment including cranes and jacks relevant to job duties.
• Follow lockout/tagout protocols and uphold safe work environments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Secondary school diploma is mandatory.
• Successful completion of a 4-year apprenticeship in Industrial Mechanic Millwright trade.
• Current valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) license (433A).
• Preferred 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing millwright roles; experience in food manufacturing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with conveyors, pumps, packaging machinery, and sanitary equipment is desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent troubleshooting capabilities.
