Job description

Company Overview

Legaline Platform, a Dubai-based AI-native LegalTech company, is expanding its presence into the Qatari market. The platform connects clients with licensed lawyers through an innovative, technology-driven legal marketplace featuring closed auctions, integrated communication, payment, and milestone tracking. Additionally, Legaline is developing Meta Legal Space, a legal education and professional development ecosystem linking legal training, education, and technology for emerging legal professionals.

Role Overview

The In-House Counsel based in Doha will play a pivotal role in establishing Legaline's legal and compliance structures in Qatar. This position goes beyond traditional legal support by partnering closely with leadership, product, technology, commercial, and operations teams to ensure Regulatory compliance and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily legal operations related to Legaline's market entry and growth within Qatar.
  • Provide expert guidance on corporate, commercial, employment, technology, regulatory, and data protection laws applicable in Qatar.
  • Formulate and implement the legal and compliance frameworks required for Legaline's operational setup in Qatar.
  • Advise on Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) regulations and other relevant legal regimes.
  • Draft, scrutinize, and negotiate various commercial and partnership agreements, NDAs, employment contracts, platform terms, and agreements between lawyers and clients.
  • Manage legal relationships with local lawyers, clients, institutions, technology partners, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with onboarding employees and related employment law matters.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate legal and compliance standards into the platform.
  • Advise on the legal implications, disclosure, and use of AI-powered tools within the platform.
  • Support teams on issues related to data processing, intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, and technology regulations.
  • Contribute to the setup and operation of Meta Legal Space initiatives including education, training, simulations, and partnerships in Qatar.
  • Keep abreast of evolving regulations concerning LegalTech, AI, marketplaces, data privacy, payments, and technology in Qatar.
  • Translate legal updates into actionable strategies for management and product teams.
  • Coordinate with external Qatari legal counsel when specialized expertise is required.
  • Handle corporate governance, risk mitigation, intellectual property, and international legal concerns.
  • Work alongside teams in Dubai and other countries to ensure seamless regional expansion.

Candidate Profile

  • Licensed lawyer with between three to six years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong expertise in Qatari laws, especially corporate, commercial, employment, technology, regulation, and data protection.
  • Previous in-house legal experience or advisory roles for technology companies, fintech, marketplaces, startups, or professional services are desirable.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory.
  • Proven skill in contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice.
  • Comfortable collaborating directly with founders, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Keen interest in LegalTech, AI, and transformation of legal services.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with an orientation to establishing new processes rather than maintaining existing ones.
  • Highly organized, pragmatic, commercially aware, and capable of working independently.
  • Currently based in Qatar or willing to relocate to Doha.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience navigating Qatari technology, fintech, digital economy, and marketplace regulations.
  • Familiarity with Qatar Financial Centre legal and regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge of data protection and AI governance standards.
  • Experience advising two-sided marketplaces or SaaS platforms.
  • Regional cross-border experience within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
  • Background working with regulated professions or licensed businesses.
  • Exposure to legal education, training, technology, or professional growth programs.

What We Offer

  • A strategic legal position integral to Legaline's launch and growth in Qatar.
  • Opportunity to pioneer a new market presence from inception.
  • Ability to shape the legal infrastructure of an AI-driven LegalTech platform.
  • Engagement with both Legaline Platform and Meta Legal Space initiatives.
  • Direct interaction with company founders, management, product, engineering, and commercial departments.
  • Regional and global exposure as part of Legaline's wider expansion.
  • Competitive remuneration package.
