IMS Maintenance Support Engineer

Overview

The IMS Maintenance Support Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the execution of Maintenance Tasking & Verification processes at both strategic and operational levels. This position focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing costs through effective application of specialized knowledge and skills. Candidates are expected to possess strong quantitative and analytical abilities, familiarity with Lean management principles, and excellent communication skills supported by good interpersonal relations. A solid understanding of product interfaces and contributory areas is essential, alongside the capability to scrutinize and interpret data with meticulous attention.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate maintenance requirements in line with approved Tactical Fleet and Fleet Maintenance Plans for specific aircraft or components, identify and resolve issues as feasible, and ensure timely formulation of the Statement of Work (SoW).
• Create and maintain detailed work packages covering technical instructions, resource allocation, and material needs for maintenance tasks, ensuring proper identification of independent inspection and safety-critical tasks.
• Plan emergent and additional maintenance work during operations to manage workload effectively relative to schedules; update and reauthorize the SoW as necessary.
• Collaborate with departments including Fleet Planning, Demand Management, Part 145 organizations, Technical Services, Airworthiness Records, and external suppliers to uphold continuing airworthiness and contractual standards.
• Review and report on maintenance task effectiveness across various locations (Forward, Depth, and Suppliers), including evaluation of SoW and review meetings (PIRM & PORM), and escalate identified trends or issues appropriately.
• Assess impacts of changing customer requirements such as fatigue life limits, capability upgrades, and approved modifications on Maintenance Tasking & Verification activities, ensuring their correct implementation.
• Verify that maintenance activities certified under approved SoWs meet all requirements or are properly authorized and deferred as applicable.
• Maintain compliance with procedures, safety management systems, regulatory frameworks, contractual obligations, and internal quality standards, while contributing to continuous system improvements and supporting audit responses.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of at least an NVQ3/ONC level qualification in Data Management, a Technical discipline, or equivalently recognized credential such as a Part 66 Category A license.
• Proven recent experience in a maintenance and support context, particularly involving aircraft fleet maintenance and continuing airworthiness record management.
• Knowledge of reliability programs and their influence on maintenance programming.
• Strong understanding of data integrity principles relative to fleet planning and maintenance tasking & verification.
• Capability to guide data integrity teams on records-related challenges both at an individual aircraft/component level and fleet-wide.
• Completion of Human Factors and Error & Product Work (E&PW) courses.
• Valid UK driving license.
