Role Overview and Responsibilities

The HVAC Technician is responsible for installation, servicing, and repair of temperature and air quality control systems throughout the hotel. Key duties include:

• Repairing and maintaining all electrical and mechanical refrigeration equipment such as freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, fan coil units, and chillers.
• Conducting preventive maintenance on all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Monitoring refrigeration system performance and its components.
• Inspecting door closing mechanisms on walk-in coolers and freezers, including gaskets and latches.
• Maintaining defrosting systems and automations related to ice makers.
• Responding to maintenance requests from various hotel departments.
• Ensuring routine cleaning of fan coil units and air handling unit filters.
• Verifying the performance of air-conditioning and chilled water systems.
• Collaborating with engineering colleagues to diagnose and resolve air-conditioning and refrigeration system issues.
• Strictly controlling venting of CFC gases to the atmosphere in compliance with environmental standards.
• Performing overhauls on air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Checking refrigeration fluid and oil levels and managing major repairs accordingly.
• Coordinating with the Engineering Storekeeper for procurement of necessary parts.
• Carrying out all tasks in line with national technical regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of technical or vocational training relevant to HVAC systems.
• At least one year of experience working in a hotel engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately.
• Experience with VRF/VRV systems is advantageous.
