About Brookhill Projects Limited
Brookhill Projects Limited is a design-and-build contractor engaged in delivering residential and commercial projects across Kenya.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to independently manage our personnel function, reporting directly to company Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive and confidential employee records ensuring compliance with Kenyan employment laws.
- Verify and submit payroll inputs by the 26th of each month, including allocation to projects and consultant invoicing.
- Accurately track employee leave, provide monthly reports, and ensure managers can view leave balances prior to approval.
- Conduct two documented performance evaluations for each employee annually, implementing time-specific improvement plans when necessary.
- Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, and employee exits promptly and in accordance with the Employment Act.
- Regularly update company policies, the employee handbook, and template documents, ensuring their active use throughout the organization.
- Manage recruitment processes from start to contract signing, ensuring complete documentation prior to each new hire's start date.
- Prepare and deliver monthly HR reports to the Directors, including recommendations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate communicates directly and confidently, able to uphold decisions that might be unpopular with staff and convey difficult messages to Directors when needed. They are proactive, working weeks ahead rather than last-minute, consistent in policy enforcement, commercially savvy to resolve employee issues without incurring unnecessary costs, and adaptable to diverse work environments including site and casual labor teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a generalist HR, HR Officer, or People Operations capacity.
- Practical knowledge of Kenyan employment law and statutory requirements.
- Experience in payroll support, leave administration, disciplinary procedures, and performance management.
- Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and Chartered Human Resource Professional (CHRP) certification are advantageous.
- Background in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, or sectors with large or casual labor forces is highly preferred.
Application Process
Interested candidates should send their CV and a brief cover letter to the provided contact, with the subject line "HR POSITION." Only shortlisted individuals will be contacted. Brookhill Projects Limited is committed to equal employment opportunities.
