Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position based in Abuja involves assisting in the implementation and oversight of HR policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with internal standards. The Human Resources Officer will work closely with management and staff to foster a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
Primary Duties
- Manage the entire recruitment process including job advertising, candidate shortlisting, interview coordination, reference and background verification, and issuance of offer and confirmation letters.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate employee records and personnel files both in physical form and within the HR system, ensuring documentation is audit-ready.
- Compile monthly payroll inputs addressing new hires, terminations, promotions, leave, and deductions, and reconcile details with the Finance department before payroll processing.
- Organize the onboarding and confirmation procedures, including probation evaluations and new hire induction.
- Oversee the leave calendar and enforce adherence to the bank’s mandatory annual leave policies.
- Facilitate the performance management process by distributing appraisal forms, monitoring their return, collating scores, and preparing management summaries.
- Coordinate training event logistics, keep the training register updated, and manage Industrial Training Fund (ITF) reimbursement paperwork.
- Generate periodic HR reports and manpower data required for management review and regulatory submissions.
- Assist with employee relations issues, documenting queries, disciplinary matters, and oversees exit formalities.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related fields is necessary.
- Between four to six years of relevant Human Resources experience, preferably within banking or financial services sectors.
- Membership as a CIPM student or associate-level certification is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Nigerian Labour Act, PENCOM, NHF, and PAYE regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HR information systems.
- Excellent written communication skills, ability to handle confidential information discreetly, and meticulous attention to detail.
