Role Summary

Based in Kochi, Kerala, the full-time Human Resources Manager position entails leadership of the entire HR function. This role involves strategizing talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, handling employee relations, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving organizational development. The HR Manager collaborates with senior leaders to synchronize HR strategies with corporate goals and facilitate business growth and workforce efficiency. Collaboration across various teams is essential to cultivate an inclusive, positive, and high-achieving organizational culture, preferably within Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or FMCG sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive HR strategies harmonized with company goals and expansion plans.
  • Provide strategic HR partnership to senior executives and department leaders regarding organizational and people management.
  • Lead and direct the HR team across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, compensation, and day-to-day HR operations.
  • Devise long-term workforce strategies, including manpower planning, succession schemes, and talent pipeline development aligned with business growth.
  • Oversee executive and critical talent recruitment across corporate, sales, operations, manufacturing, and support sectors.
  • Implement effective talent management and retention plans for pivotal and high-potential employees.
  • Spearhead organizational restructuring, workforce optimization, change management, and HR transformation initiatives as necessary.
  • Manage a robust performance management system involving KPIs, goal-setting, evaluations, and development planning.
  • Develop leadership advancement, succession preparation, and career growth frameworks.
  • Lead initiatives fostering employee engagement and enriching workplace culture to improve commitment and retention.
  • Offer strategic counsel on complex employee relations issues including grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and workplace challenges.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits policies encompassing pay structures, benchmarking, increments, incentives, and benefit schemes ensuring market competitiveness and equity.
  • Maintain HR policies, processes, and governance in alignment with business needs and legal requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to Indian labor regulations such as PF, ESI, Gratuity, Shops & Establishments Act, and related statutes.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to optimize labor costs, increase productivity, and enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Establish HR metrics and dashboards to track workforce dynamics, turnover, recruitment outcomes, absenteeism, costs, and engagement levels.
  • Present comprehensive HR analytics, reports, and strategic advice to senior management.
  • Identify and address organizational skill gaps through targeted workforce competency development initiatives.
  • Manage learning and development programs including leadership, technical, behavioral, and competency-based training.
  • Foster a culture emphasizing performance and employee focus.
  • Guarantee consistent application of HR policies and best practices across all departments and locations.
  • Mentor and develop the HR team enhancing their skills and capabilities.
  • Provide leadership during major organizational changes such as business growth, restructuring, and strategic realignments.
  • Handle sensitive employee and organizational issues with confidentiality and sound judgment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MBA with specialization in Human Resources or Human Resource Management is required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is mandatory.
  • 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in HR, including senior HR management roles.
  • Extensive experience within Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or FMCG sectors is essential.
  • Proven capability to independently oversee and lead the end-to-end HR function.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Indian labor laws, statutory compliance, and HR governance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic HR planning, organizational development, talent management, and workforce planning.
  • Track record of effective stakeholder management and collaboration with business leadership.
  • Experience in guiding and developing HR departments.
  • Exposure to compensation strategy, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Advantageous experience managing HR across various departments, functions, or multi-location operations.
  • Proficiency in HRMS/HRIS platforms, HR analytics, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Profile

  • Background in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Medical Devices, Nutraceuticals, Consumer Healthcare, or FMCG industries preferred.
  • Experience working in settings experiencing significant growth, expansion, or transformational changes.
  • Familiarity with working directly with CEOs, Directors, and top management appreciated.
  • Sound commercial insight and ability to link HR strategy to business performance valued.
  • Experience managing large, diverse workforces across multiple functions or sites is a plus.
