About The Role
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will spearhead all EHS efforts at the manufacturing facility, ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory requirements while fostering a robust safety culture. Reporting to the Plant Manager and stationed in Tema, this position contributes to operational excellence through continuous risk management and improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee compliance with local, national, and global EHS standards by managing permits, licenses, and regulatory documents.
- Lead site inspections, audits, and mandatory reporting to uphold regulatory standards.
- Perform risk assessments and hazard evaluations across production and support operations.
- Investigate incidents and near misses to identify causes and enforce corrective and preventive measures.
- Track and communicate safety performance indicators such as TRIR and LTIR.
- Manage environmental initiatives including waste disposal, emission controls, and conservation efforts aligned with sustainability goals.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
- Design and implement training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote safety awareness.
- Advance a culture of safety through engagement activities like safety talks and behavioral safety programs.
- Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate EHS principles into daily operations and improve ergonomics and machine safety.
- Lead projects that support site-wide manufacturing excellence with a focus on safety and environmental performance.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- At least 5 years of practical EHS experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards alongside local regulatory obligations.
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments, root cause analyses, incident investigations, corrective action planning, and audit execution.
- Strong leadership ability and effective communication skills to influence multidisciplinary teams.
- Analytical skills with a problem-solving orientation.
- Experience using EHS management systems and reporting software.
- Dedicated to safety, sustainability, and continuous development within the workplace.
