About the Role and Organisation

At Churches of Christ in Queensland, we champion safe and secure housing as a foundation for stronger communities. Operating from our Kenmore Head Office, the Housing Officer will play a critical role in managing community housing, supporting tenants to maintain successful tenancies, and delivering property management services within an inclusive, values-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of community housing properties effectively.
  • Assist tenants to maintain sustainable and successful tenancies.
  • Carry out property inspections and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Oversee rent accounts, tenancy agreements, and ensure compliance obligations are met.
  • Handle tenancy-related issues with professionalism, empathy, and fairness.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records contributing to quality service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a Certificate IV in Social Housing, Community Services, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Background in tenancy management, property management, or community services sector.
  • Hold a current Driver's Licence.
  • Intermediate proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness or possession of a National Police Check and Blue Card.

Desired Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of social and community housing programs.
  • Insight into the challenges faced by people experiencing housing stress, disadvantage, disabilities, or homelessness.
  • Familiarity with the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to respectful and person-centred service delivery.
