Job Overview

Join the Comfort Keepers team as a Housekeeper providing essential non-medical assistance to clients in their homes. Your role will focus on ensuring clients' comfort, safety, and general oversight while managing household tasks and offering companionship to those needing social interaction and guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Completion of at least a high school diploma.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification with maintenance of these credentials.
• Must have a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check renewed annually.
• Pass all necessary background checks including Criminal Background Investigation, Motor Vehicle Driving Record (if applicable), Professional and Personal Reference Checks, and consent to random drug and alcohol testing.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, and dependability are essential.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required when driving is part of duties.
• Successfully finishing Comfort Keepers' training and orientation is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver non-medical support following a personalized Plan of Care.
• Offer companionship through conversation, listening, reading aloud, and emotional support to enhance mental engagement and client well-being.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks like vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, and laundering.
• Prepare and serve meals when directed and ensure cleanliness of dishes and kitchen afterward.
• Assist clients with communications such as phone calls and letter writing, and accompany them on outings to community events or appointments.
• Support clients in taking self-administered medications according to company policy.
• Observe and promptly report any changes in clients' mental, physical, or emotional status or living conditions to supervisors.
• Foster professional and positive relationships with clients, their families, and colleagues.
• Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and client conferences as required.
• Accurately document all services provided and submit reports punctually.
• Safely utilize equipment and supplies and protect client confidentiality.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation

Starting wage is $20.00 per hour.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work primarily takes place in clients’ homes and may involve travel using an automobile. Risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens is possible. The role requires frequent physical activity including standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting items up to 12kg (25 lbs), talking, and hearing. Good manual dexterity and strength in both hands are necessary.
