Job Summary

This role involves delivering non-medical assistance aimed at enhancing clients' comfort, safety, and daily supervision within their homes. Responsibilities include companionship, socialization support, and home management duties ensuring a clean and orderly environment.

Responsibilities

• Attend to clients' non-medical needs according to an established Plan of Care.
• Offer companionship by engaging in conversation, reading, and providing social and emotional support to promote clients' mental alertness and well-being.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living space through light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, bathroom cleaning, and laundry of clients' clothing and linens.
• Prepare and serve meals following directions, ensuring the kitchen and dishes are cleaned afterward.
• Assist clients with phone calls, letter writing, and accompany them on walks and community outings like salon visits.
• Support clients in taking self-administered medications adhering to company medication policies.
• Monitor and report any changes in clients’ physical, mental, or emotional state or home environment promptly to supervisors.
• Maintain professional and effective communication with clients, their families, and colleagues.
• Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and client conferences as required.
• Complete and submit accurate service documentation timely per company policy.
• Use equipment and supplies safely and maintain client confidentiality at all times.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum education: High school diploma.
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid must be held and maintained.
• Completion and annual renewal of Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check required.
• Must pass Criminal Background check, Motor Vehicle Driving Record check (if driving is necessary), and Professional/Personal Reference verification.
• Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
• Reliable transportation with punctual and dependable attendance is necessary.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required if driving during assignments.
• Successfully complete Comfort Keepers orientation and training programs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in clients' homes while maintaining positive relations with clients, families, and staff.
• Capability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and keep proper documentation of services provided.
• Strong personal ethics with genuine concern for client welfare.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position operates primarily in clients' homes and sometimes requires driving. Workers may risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases through contact with bodily fluids. The physical nature of the job includes regular standing, sitting, walking, bending, talking, hearing, reaching, and lifting up to 12 kg (25 lbs). Dexterity and strength in both hands are essential.

Compensation

Starting wage is $20.00 per hour.
