Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of the dining room layout, table/seat/section numbering, appropriate table setups, venue capacity, operating hours, pricing, and dress codes.
- Understand restaurant reservation protocols and handle bookings efficiently.
- Be informed of daily guest counts including arrivals, departures, and VIPs.
- Stay updated on scheduled group activities, including locations and timings.
- Adhere to all departmental policies and service procedures.
- Answer telephone calls promptly within three rings, employing correct salutations and telephone etiquette.
- Record and confirm restaurant reservations and cancellations following departmental standards, and communicate any changes to management during the shift.
- Ensure that assigned preparation tasks comply with departmental guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sufficient availability of menus and check folders.
- Keep the hostess stand tidy and well-organized.
- Review the reservation book, pre-assign tables, and manage special guest requests.
- Welcome guests warmly at the restaurant entrance.
- Seat guests according to the floor plan ensuring fairness towards waitstaff.
- Accompany guests to their assigned tables and confirm their satisfaction with seating.
- Present menus in an open position to guests.
- Ensure table settings are impeccable to serve guests effectively.
- Prepare for busy periods and manage waiting lines efficiently.
- Promptly anticipate and respond to guest needs at any time of day.
- Maintain positive relationships with guests consistently.
- Be knowledgeable about hotel services and activities to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
- Address guest complaints following immediate pacification procedures to ensure satisfaction.
- Observe guest reactions and coordinate frequently with management to maintain guest satisfaction levels.
- Oversee and participate in clearing and resetting tables to departmental standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of section equipment and supplies.
- Assist restaurant staff as needed to ensure optimal guest service.
- Encourage a collaborative and productive working atmosphere.
- Conduct table visits during meal periods to verify guest satisfaction.
- Promote food and beverage outlets during downtime.
- Complete all required training successfully.
- Support the supervisor with accurate cashiering procedures and menu printing.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work across different F&B outlets as required.
- Carry out other reasonable assignments given by supervisors or management.
Candidate Qualifications
- Exceptional guest service capabilities with polished appearance and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- An enthusiastic, guest-focused personality eager to assist customers positively.
- Fluency in French and English (both spoken and written); additional languages considered advantageous.
- Capable of multitasking in a dynamic and quickly changing environment.
- Flexible with working hours and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
