Hostess

Position Overview

As a Hostess at Marriott International in Kampala, Uganda, you will warmly welcome guests and assist them in seating arrangements, ensuring a clean and orderly dining environment. This role involves guiding guests around the dining area, preparing tables with fresh settings, and providing attentive service to enhance the guest experience.

Key Duties

• Greet guests upon arrival and confirm the number in their party.
• Seat guests at available, clean tables, ensuring chairs are properly arranged and menus are current and tidy.
• Assist guests in navigating dining spaces and accommodate special seating needs.
• Maintain appropriate place settings including napkins, silverware, and other necessary items.
• Consistently monitor dining areas for table availability, safety, and guest comfort.
• Perform clean-as-you-go practices to maintain work area cleanliness throughout the day.
• Adhere to all company safety and security protocols, reporting hazards or incidents as necessary.
• Represent Marriott with a clean, professional appearance and uphold confidentiality and asset protection standards.
• Communicate professionally with guests and colleagues, including telephone etiquette.
• Support team members to achieve shared goals and respond constructively to coworkers’ concerns.
• Carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidate Profile

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Work experience: No prior experience required.
• Supervisory experience: Not required.
• Licenses or certifications: None required.

Additional Information

This non-management position is strictly onsite at our location on Ggaba Road in Kampala. The role involves standing, sitting, or walking for long periods and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds without help.
