About the Role
Bayshore HealthCare is seeking compassionate and dedicated Homemakers to join our team serving the Delta and Richmond communities in British Columbia. This position centers on providing essential non-medical assistance to adults living independently, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental health challenges, and other complex needs. Our Homemakers help enhance safety, independence, and quality of life by assisting with household tasks, meal preparation, companionship, and facilitating community involvement.
Main Duties
- Conduct household chores such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens to maintain a sanitary living environment.
- Help organize homes, assist in decluttering, and support clients in establishing effective household routines for safety and order.
- Adapt to diverse home settings, including those that may be highly cluttered or require significant cleaning efforts.
- Assist with meal-related activities including planning menus, grocery shopping, and meal preparation according to client needs.
- Offer companionship and motivate clients towards independent living, engaging in daily skills practice and encouraging participation in community activities.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social engagements as needed.
- Monitor and report any noticeable changes in client health, well-being, support needs, or home environment conditions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to client care.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, or other similar care backgrounds is advantageous.
- Previous work in homemaking, residential support, community support, or cleaning services is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to work autonomously while respecting professional boundaries.
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid driver's license accompanied by a dependable vehicle for travel.
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Physical ability to perform duties that involve lifting, bending, reaching, standing, and sustained cleaning activity.
