Overview

As a Home Hardlines/Lead Clerk at our Vancouver, WA location, your mission is to deliver an exceptional shopping experience, fostering customer loyalty through outstanding service. You will ensure the department operates smoothly, maintaining a safe and tidy environment that encourages return visits.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers by providing knowledgeable answers and recommendations about products offered in the department and storewide.
• Maintain awareness of inventory levels, promptly identifying and reporting any stock discrepancies.
• Implement merchandising strategies creatively while conditioning all products as per company policies.
• Manage cashier duties proficiently and oversee adherence to merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense, supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, and food safety standards.
• Support daily departmental operations and encourage associates to embody a customer-first approach.
• Keep department staff informed of current and upcoming promotions, seasonal specials, and in-store advertisements.
• Follow scheduled shift hours and reinforce safety programs by complying with all safety procedures, promptly reporting unsafe conditions or incidents to management.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate managers when repairs are necessary.
• Report any accidents involving customers or employees and escalate any observed illegal activities including theft, robbery, or fraud.

Requirements

• Must possess effective communication skills and basic math abilities such as counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Capable of handling stressful situations while fulfilling physical demands of the role.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Desired qualifications include retail experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language is preferred.
• Compliance with local, state, and federal health and civil codes is mandatory.
