Grocery/Lead Clerk

Role Overview

Deliver an exceptional shopping experience by providing outstanding service and maintaining a clean, safe environment that encourages customers to return. Support the department manager with achieving sales and profitability targets and uphold all quality assurance standards. Demonstrate the company’s fundamental values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in managing department goals related to sales and profits.
• Ensure department merchandise is properly labeled, stocked, and inventoried.
• Check the freshness and quality of products including monitoring sell-by dates and taking necessary actions.
• Offer samples to customers to introduce them to new products.
• Inform customers about grocery promotions and specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered and recommend grocery items based on their needs.
• Maintain appropriate temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs updated.
• Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines strictly.
• Support safety programs by adhering to safety procedures and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or hazards to management.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report any repair needs.
• Report incidents such as employee or customer accidents, safety risks, or illegal activities including theft or fraud to store management.
• Practice core company values consistently throughout daily operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Effective communication skills to engage with customers and associates.
• Basic math proficiency including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail experience is an advantage.
• Ability to speak, read, or write a second language.
• Positive attitude fostering trust and respect among coworkers.
• Strong product knowledge capability to inform and assist customers.
