About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Home Hardlines/Lead Clerk to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure an outstanding shopping experience. This role involves maintaining a safe and tidy environment to encourage customer loyalty, while achieving the department's sales and profit objectives. You will support daily department operations and embody the company's core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service, creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and appreciated.
• Maintain knowledge of products within the department to confidently answer customer inquiries and offer informed suggestions.
• Understand store layout to efficiently locate products for customers or associates.
• Keep department staff updated on ongoing and upcoming promotions, especially those impacting the department.
• Monitor inventory and stocking levels, reporting any discrepancies promptly.
• Adhere to scheduled shift hours, practicing creative merchandising and conditioning products per company standards.
• Perform cashier duties as necessary.
• Enforce compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor, expense, supply control, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and engagement protocols.
• Support safety initiatives by following safety procedures, identifying hazards, and notifying management of unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and alerting management to repair needs.
• Report customer or employee accidents, safety risks, and any illegal activities such as theft, robbery, or fraud.
• Fulfill physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math proficiency including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Preferred: prior retail experience.
• Preferred: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
• Compliance with local, state, and federal health and civil regulations.
