Highway Operative - Poole Location

Role Overview

Bournemouth Christchurch Poole Council's Highway Delivery Team seeks skilled Highway Operatives to participate in various public highway tasks. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, construction schemes, traffic management, and winter service operations, all aimed at enhancing road safety and infrastructure quality for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance activities such as patching and remedial repairs on highways.
• Support highway construction and resurfacing projects, ranging from small local improvements to major network enhancements.
• Implement traffic management strategies on diverse road types including rural, urban, and high-speed routes.
• Participate in winter service duties ensuring road safety during adverse weather conditions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in highways maintenance and construction work.
• Proficiency in traffic management deployment across various road networks.
• Possession of a valid Class C1 or Class C driving license.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to stay composed and courteous when interacting with the public.

Work Location

Successful candidates will be based at either the Hatch Pond Road Depot in Poole or the Southcote Road Depot in Bournemouth.
