Location and Working Hours

The position is based at Radius Hawthorne, 10 St Winifreds Place, Bryndwr, Christchurch.

Work hours require a minimum of 30 hours weekly on a rotating 24/7 roster that includes weekends and public holidays.

Compensation

The hourly wage is $30.87, contingent on holding a Level 4 caregiving qualification or its equivalent.

Role Overview

The Healthcare Assistant delivers high-quality care to residents under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes fostering meaningful relationships with residents and their families and collaborating with team members to carry out individualized care plans. Comprehensive training is provided.

Primary Responsibilities

• Providing personal care services while encouraging residents' independence and decision-making
• Completing delegated duties efficiently and on time
• Responding promptly to resident requests and offering helpful information
• Maintaining and updating residents' health care records accurately
• Assisting with resident handovers during shift transitions

Required Skills and Experience

• New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or an equivalent qualification along with at least 1 year of relevant caregiving experience
• Strong interpersonal skills paired with genuine empathy for residents and their families
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities
• Flexibility to work varied rostered shifts
• Experience or training in dementia care is preferred
