Head of Quality - Offplot LNG Project

Airswift is a global manpower provider specializing in the Energy, Infrastructure, and IT sectors with presence across more than 70 countries. We partner with a major Oil & Gas operator to recruit a Head of Quality for an Offplot role working on a large-scale LNG expansion project.

Role Overview

This long-term contract role is based onsite at Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. The position demands residency on-site and adherence to a 6-day work week with 10-hour shifts. The contract duration is 36 months with potential for extension, and the start date is negotiable but typically requires a one-month notice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all quality-related activities for the mega LNG Offplot project, ensuring full compliance across all project phases from FEED through to start-up.
• Report directly to the Quality Division Manager for CO2 & Offplot segments.
• Oversee contractor progress and ensure timely delivery of quality documentation as per the Master Document Register and Quality Plan.
• Implement the company’s Quality Management System throughout all phases, including surveillance for engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
• Provide technical clarifications during tendering and review bids to ensure compliance with quality assurance and control requirements.
• Ensure contractual quality standards are met, particularly concerning Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and vendor surveillance procedures.
• Track and verify adherence to quality requirements from FEED to commissioning and start-up.
• Lead continuous improvement and implementation efforts for the Project Quality Management System.
• Plan and lead internal and external quality audits covering EPC contractors, vendors, and fabrication yards to ensure compliance and drive corrective/preventive measures.
• Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), deviation requests, and lessons learned with thorough root cause analysis and timely resolutions, feeding back insights to engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project quality personnel, ensuring adequate resourcing, inspection coverage, and training across the project lifecycle to maintain project integrity and reliability.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or Engineering is required.
• At least 15 years of quality experience within the Oil & Gas industry, with a minimum of 5 years in supervisory or oversight roles including service/vendor personnel.
• Experience working with Oil & Gas companies, contractors, or service providers in large-scale operational or project settings.
• Strong familiarity with Quality Systems, related specifications, and quality management tools.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards including ISO 9001, API, ASME, ASTM, AWS, IEC codes, and practices relevant to oil and gas.
• Proven ability managing quality requirements across FEED, detailed design, procurement, and construction deliverables.
• Strong leadership capabilities paired with personal integrity and ability to guide contractor teams effectively.

Technical and Business Skills

• Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, coordination, and planning abilities.
• Competence in conflict resolution, problem-solving, creative thinking, negotiation, and empathy.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office software suite.
• In-depth knowledge of industry codes, standards, and telecom discipline practices.
