Role Overview

The Head of Fleet role, situated in Nairobi County, Kenya, is a full-time, on-site position. The individual will be responsible for managing the electric motorcycle fleet's overall performance, safety, and utilization. Key duties involve day-to-day oversight of fleet operations such as vehicle allocation, maintenance scheduling, and monitoring key performance indicators like uptime. This role collaborates closely with supply chain and procurement teams to guarantee the prompt availability of vehicles, spare parts, and necessary equipment while striving to maximize cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.

The position requires leading and mentoring the fleet operations team, setting targets for performance, and developing procedures that enhance driver experience and service quality. Additionally, the role entails working alongside customer service teams to handle fleet-related concerns, ensuring compliance with relevant local regulations, and participating in strategic planning for expanding the fleet and advancing sustainability goals.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Solid expertise in Operations Management and Supply Chain Management to improve fleet logistics, asset use, and overall performance.
  • Practical experience in Procurement, including managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely procurement of vehicles and parts.
  • Proven leadership skills with a history of managing cross-functional teams, mentoring employees, and fostering accountability and high performance.
  • Strong customer service orientation to effectively meet the needs of drivers and partners, address operational challenges, and maintain satisfaction standards.
  • Previous work experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics sectors, preferably within emerging markets or the mobility industry.
  • Ability to analyze operational data effectively using dashboards and fleet management software to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of engaging successfully with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a closely related field; possession of relevant professional certifications is advantageous.
