Job description
Position Overview
The Head Cleaner is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the comprehensive cleanliness of the Galleys and surrounding spaces assigned to the Food and Beverage Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain thorough knowledge of USPH (Uniformed Sanitation Program for Hospitality) Rules and Regulations across operations.
- Oversee appropriate segregation of waste materials.
- Manage cleaning and storage of designated kitchenware in the assigned Galley Locker.
- Ensure cleaning and washing equipment are kept clean and functional; report any damage to the Kitchen Steward promptly.
- Monitor the consumption of chemicals and cleaning supplies efficiently.
- Prevent damage to equipment and chinaware; document and report any breakages accordingly.
- Support and supervise dishwashing areas during busy periods to minimize loss and breakage.
- Maintain all galley outlets and adjacent areas to consistently meet USPH sanitation standards.
- Supervise adherence to food safety protocols and food quality standards throughout all related processes.
- Be present during USPH inspections conducted by onboard management.
- Follow all safety procedures rigorously.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Kitchen Steward and Senior Executive Chef.
Candidate Profile
- Standard High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of six years' experience preferably in quality hotels or restaurants.
- Intermediate understanding of food safety principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages considered an asset.
Essential Certifications and Documents
- Valid passport, visas, and certificates as required for travel and port entry.
- Food Safety/HACCP certification.
