Job Overview

ABM Industries is seeking a skilled Handyperson to perform general maintenance and repair tasks across office and commercial properties. The hourly pay rate is $34.67, which varies according to the candidate's experience, skills, and location. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle various general maintenance and repair tasks in office and commercial environments.
  • Complete minor carpentry duties such as assembling furniture, fixing cabinets, and installing fixtures.
  • Carry out painting, patching, and cosmetic repairs on walls, ceilings, sidewalks, and other surfaces.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building equipment and appliances at a basic level.
  • Assist with moving furniture, reconfiguring office layouts, and setting up events.
  • Support electrical, plumbing, and HVAC technicians during maintenance and repair work.
  • Perform routine grounds upkeep and landscaping as necessary.
  • Identify maintenance issues and report significant repair requirements to management.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and workspaces clean and safe.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergency situations.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards and procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in general building maintenance, handyman services, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and other facility repair practices.
  • Competency using hand and power tools and maintenance equipment while following safety protocols.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Basic computer proficiency to manage work orders, communication, and documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining commercial office or corporate facilities.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Relevant trades certifications or technical training.
