Cleaner for Pike County Schools

Overview

We seek a dependable and experienced school custodian to carry out general cleaning tasks within designated areas of a K-12 educational environment. This position involves maintaining cleanliness and order during daytime hours, specifically Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The hourly pay rate for this role is $11.00.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris and spills, and mop floors within designated zones.
• Regularly monitor and empty trash receptacles in all specified locations.
• Adhere to procedures for handling chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damaging floors and fixtures.
• Report to the lead cleaner or manager about minor or major repairs or changes needed for building systems.
• Maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect and sort recyclables, placing them in appropriate containers.
• Dust and clean desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces including woodwork and stainless steel elements.
• Clean and wipe tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food-serving areas.
• Relocate furniture, cabinets, boxes, crates, and equipment manually or using hand trucks to access cleaning areas.
• Clean interior glass such as partition windows, glass dividers, and mirrors with appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
• Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance like sweeping walkways, raking leaves, mowing grass, and snow removal.
• Ensure restrooms remain clean and polished as required.
• Comply with all safety, security, quality standards, and procedural guidelines set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• No prior experience is mandatory as on-the-job training is provided.
• No formal educational qualifications such as high school diploma, GED, or college degree are required.
• Preferred candidates have customer service experience and up to one year of similar cleaning work.
