About Vector Logistics
Vector Logistics is a Supply Chain and Sales & Merchandising partner dedicated to enhancing business value through a fully integrated, temperature-controlled distribution network across Southern Africa, including multi-temperature vehicles servicing frozen, chilled, and ambient goods.
Job Purpose
This position involves performing a diverse range of maintenance, repair, and improvement duties across the Coega Site, acting as a versatile problem solver who manages multiple maintenance challenges without always relying on specialist contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper upkeep and secure storage of power and hand tools; report and repair broken equipment when possible.
- Identify necessary tools, materials, and equipment for tasks.
- Request supervisory inspection post task completion.
- Conduct general repairs including replacement of faulty lighting and basic electrical fixes where qualified.
- Resolve safety hazards, assemble and repair furniture and equipment, install machinery and appliances, and handle plumbing and carpentry tasks.
- Coordinate with contractors and other workers as needed.
- Attend to building maintenance issues such as ceilings, roof leaks, painting, waterproofing, windowpane replacement, door repairs, paving, fencing, bricklaying, plastering, gutter repairs, and tiling.
- Maintain workplace safety, comply with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) procedures, and ensure consistent use of Total Integrated Management System (TIMS) documentation.
- Demonstrate responsibility and effective self-management by planning, prioritizing, communicating challenges, and collaborating to meet team objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) educational qualification.
- N3 or equivalent in trades, predominantly electrical (40%) and mechanical (60%).
- Valid driver's license; Code EC is beneficial.
- Two to four years of combined electrical and mechanical experience.
- Clear criminal record.
- Capability to work overtime, shifts, weekends, public holidays, and travel to locations such as George, East London, and Mthatha.
