Job Overview

Become a vital part of the hospitality experience by ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our hotel facilities. As a Handy-Person, your role is key in maintaining the quality and comfort of our property while supporting the Engineering maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house locations to keep the hotel in top condition.
  • Implement scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to reduce equipment downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical components, painting, and decorating, maintaining high standards throughout the property.
  • Carry out routine inspections of hotel equipment and facilities, promptly addressing any issues detected.
  • Keep detailed maintenance records and effectively communicate needed follow-ups to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, fire, and security protocols to foster a safe environment for guests, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Support emergency system upkeep, including fire panels, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and related fire safety equipment.
  • Collaborate with various hotel departments to respond quickly to repair requests and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in special maintenance projects as assigned by management.
  • Engage in ongoing training to update skills and knowledge of maintenance best practices.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Previous experience in maintenance roles, ideally within the hospitality or customer service sector.
  • Proficient practical skills in general building upkeep or specialized trades such as plumbing, electrical, or mechanical work.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach combined with analytical problem-solving capabilities and the capacity to work independently.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork orientation, professionalism, and eagerness to learn.
  • Good understanding of health and safety laws and practices and a commitment to workplace safety.
  • Willingness to work shifts that may include weekends and public holidays.
  • Positive demeanor and enthusiasm for acquiring new skills.
