Job description
Overview
This role as a GSE Technician or Lead GSE Technician focuses on conducting preventive and corrective maintenance for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and fleet vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The technician supports the workshop supervisor by assisting with diagnostics and handling complex repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine preventive and corrective maintenance on all GSE and fleet vehicles adhering to high quality standards.
- Detect faults and defects in systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, and air conditioning, and perform necessary repairs including major component overhaul like engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps/motors, and compressors.
- Supervise maintenance activities by GSE technicians and workshop assistants, providing assistance in diagnostics and advanced repairs.
- Support the Workshop Supervisor by inspecting maintenance work completed.
- Refer to technical resources including drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Utilize automated maintenance systems to log repair activities and analyze maintenance trends.
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation of all work activities during shifts and submit reports to the workshop office as directed.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, manage tools properly, and prioritize safety at all times.
- Train and develop less experienced staff through on-the-job guidance.
- Provide detailed technical reports to supervisors when required.
- Collaborate with supervisors to enhance repair and maintenance procedures continually.
- Act as a deputy to the workshop supervisor when necessary.
- Perform additional departmental duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Minimum high school diploma with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 1 year of related experience.
- Valid driving license from home country or local jurisdiction.
- Willingness and ability to obtain required safety and airside driving certifications including Workshop Safety Awareness, Ramp Safety Awareness (RSA), and Basic Airside Driving Course.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in maintaining GSE and fleet vehicles in an active airport environment is advantageous.
