Starting as a meat delivery business in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Sobeys has expanded to over 128,000 team members across corporate and franchised locations throughout Canada, operating more than 1,500 stores under various banners such as Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, and others. This specific opportunity is within an independently owned and operated franchised/affiliate store.

The Grocery Clerk's primary duty is to perform all assigned tasks with professionalism, responsibility, accuracy, and timeliness while providing outstanding customer service, promoting customer loyalty, and enhancing the work environment for both employees and patrons.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all Food Safety Guidelines, Health and Safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, and programs diligently.
• Stock merchandise following company inventory control procedures as needed.
• Deliver excellent customer service tailored to customer requirements.
• Boost store sales by actively marketing featured products.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the back shop and sales floor in compliance with company standards.
• Handle department shrink processes as necessary.
• Assist in training new or junior team members.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

• Capable of working independently in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills above average.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and reaching.
