Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Grave Digging Operative to join our Cemetery Services team based in Warwick. This permanent, full-time role involves preparing and excavating graves, backfilling them upon completion, and managing ongoing cemetery maintenance to ensure the grounds remain respectful, tidy, and well-maintained for visitors and families. This position requires a professional approach, respect for the environment, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dig graves according to established protocols.
  • Backfill graves after use to appropriate standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the cemetery grounds.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance duties as needed to support the cemetery's appearance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with cemetery work including grave digging and burial procedures.
  • Formal burial training is necessary; possession of Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme (COTS) certification is an advantage, however training will be provided if required.
  • Experience operating 360 excavators and dumpers is beneficial.
  • Possession of a valid full UK driving license is mandatory.
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and strong focus on safety are essential.
